LIONS BLUFF
"Having heard about Lions Bluff, Howard and I decided that we would take a safari from our home in Mombasa, a welcome break from the heat at the coast and see what this camp was all about. We took the main Mombasa/Nairobi tarmac road to Voi and hooked off left on the Taita/Taveta Road. The last few kilometres are on a dirt road and is the main road from the border between Tanzania and Kenya. It took us about 2.5 hours of easy travel.
After checking into the entrance gate to Lions Bluff, we started to climb, and climb and climb until we reached the very top of the hill where reception, bar and dinning area sits on the edge of a ridge of metamorphic rock, rising steeply above the surronding plains.
Our immediate reaction was "Wow, what a view!" Breath taking in fact. It is truly an amazing spot for the camp and aptly named as we heard the lion at night and then found a lioness on a kill next morning.
The camp itself is very attractive with the tented accommodation set along the hill side all looking out on a vista scene of miles and miles of nothing but savanah; animals below; hills and Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. |

We were treated to a colourful sunset on Lion Rock along with friends, Iain and Helen and a game drive at night on our way back to camp for hot showers; drinks by the fire side, delicious dinner and great company.

We have already planned another trip in October, this time taking friends from England with us and spending 2 nights enjoying the hospitality by the staff and general ambience of Lions Bluff.
